Voluntary Activities Charge
What does our Voluntary Activities Charge go towards?
At Upton St Leonards Playgroup & Preschool, we are a charity-run setting and always aim to keep costs as low as possible for the families who attend.
Parents are free to use their funded hours in the way that best suits their family, on any day that our setting is open and available. The only additional charge we ask for is our Voluntary Activities Charge, which is entirely optional.
This contribution helps us continue to provide the extra experiences and opportunities that make our setting so special. These include:
- Enrichment activities (e.g. Robot Reg, Croc n Roll, and Boogie Beat)
- The upkeep of our allotment, which the children walk to and enjoy as part of their learning.
- Trips - we organise a trip each year for both our playgroup and pre-school sessions, giving the children the chance to enjoy new experiences outside of the setting. In previous years, we have visited places such as Sherborne Cinema, St Augustine's Farm, Hingnam Woods for a forest school experience, and Mudpies & Sprinkles at the Quarry.
We also love to celebrate together as a playgroup community. Throughout the year, we provide special events such as:
-Graduations
-End of year parties
-Christmas carol concerts & party
-Nativity
-Sports Day
These occasions are open to all the families and often include entertainers, inflatables, gifts for the children, and other memorable experiences.
As a setting, we work hard to raise funds so that we can continue to offer these extra-curricular activities, trips, and celebrations for al to enjoy. The Voluntary Activities Charge is a small contribution from families to help support these costs.
We want to reassure families that if you are unable to contribute, your child will never miss out on any of the activities or experiences we provide. However, if too many families choose not to contribute, we may need to reduce some of the extra opportunities we are currently able to offer.
